Router and mesh Wi-Fi deals: what to buy, and when a discount is real
Which routers and mesh systems are worth buying for common homes, what they list for, and how to tell a real discount from a marketing one. When a person has checked an offer at the retailer, it appears here with the time of the check, a saving measured against a price we can defend, and a score whose formula is published below.

Worth waiting for: the finder's picks at list price
For five common situations, the router finder's best overall pick and its best-value alternative, at the makers' published prices (not sale prices). If a checked offer brings one of these below its list price, that's a deal that fits; a deeper discount on something that doesn't fit your home isn't. Results come from our published rules on today's catalog and change as the catalog does.
| Situation | Best overall (list price) | Best value (list price) | Why the finder picks it |
|---|---|---|---|

| Two-story house, 2,500 sq ft | MSI Roamii BE Pro Mesh System (MRBE110) (2 units): $299.99 (price not from the maker's store) | TP-Link Deco XE75 (2 units): $219.99 | 2-unit kit matches the 2 access points we estimate Watch: Some specs are medium-confidence; see the product page sources. |

What the finder picks at each budget, at list price
The router finder's best overall pick for whole-home coverage within each budget, for an 800 sq ft apartment and a 2,500 sq ft two-story house, using the makers' published prices (not retail or sale prices). These are deterministic results from our published rules on today's catalog.

When a higher budget gives the same pick, the finder found nothing that covers the home better for the money: extra spending buys features such as faster ports or more 6 GHz coverage, not reach. Prices checked 2026-10-20. For your own home, plan your network or use the router finder.
Four checks before you buy a discounted router
- Does it carry your internet plan? A router whose internet port is 1 Gbps can't deliver a 2 Gbps plan, however cheap it is. Check the internet (WAN) port speed on the product page, or filter the finder by port speed.
- Does it cover your home? A single router rarely covers a large or multi-story home. The planner estimates how many units your floor area and walls need, so you can compare the price of the whole kit, not one box.
- Is it still supported? Clearance prices often mark the end of a product's life. Its product page shows whether the maker still lists it; we don't score discontinued products as good deals.
- Is the saving real? A launch list price isn't necessarily what the product normally sells for. We compute savings only against our own price checks over time or the maker's current store price, and say which.
How we verify and score deals
Verification. A person checks the price, availability and any conditions on the retailer's own page and records the time. A second step, editorial review, approves the offer before it appears. Nothing a script finds is published automatically. Each offer is shown for 24 hours after its check from 20 November to 1 December and 72 hours at other times, or until the retailer's stated end of the promotion if that comes first. Your browser hides it at that moment, even if the page itself hasn't changed.
Retailer rules. Amazon allows prices on sites in its affiliate program only when they come from its product API, so Amazon offers appear here only once RouterHaus qualifies for that API; until then we don't show Amazon prices. Walmart's affiliate terms don't allow price tracking, so Walmart prices are never part of our price history.
Reference prices. A saving is computed only against one of two references, and the deal says which:
- our price history: the median of at least 5 earlier checks at the same retailer spanning at least 30 days (the last 90 days when there are enough checks); or
- the maker's own US store price, if our catalog checked it within the last 45 days.
A launch list price, often called MSRP, is shown as context but never used to claim a discount, because it may not be what the product actually sells for. U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidance treats a comparison with a former price that wasn't really charged as deceptive (16 CFR 233.1).
Score (0 to 100). Five parts, added up:
| Part | Points | How it's calculated |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | 0–40 | Saving against the reference, divided by 30 % (so 30 % or more earns the full amount), times 40, times the reference's confidence: 1.0 for our price history, 0.6 for the maker's store price, 0 with no defensible reference. |
| Price history | 0–15 | 15 at or below the lowest earlier check, 8 within 5 % of it. Only with our own price history. |
| Value | 0–25 | Compared with the cheapest current product in our catalog of the same type and Wi-Fi generation with an internet port at least as fast, at its list price: 25 at or below it, 15 within 10 %, 8 within 25 %, otherwise 0. |
| Lifecycle | 0–10 | 10 for a current product released in the last two years, 6 for an older current product, 3 when its status is unclear, 0 when discontinued. |
| Stock | 0–10 | 10 in stock when checked, 6 limited, 4 unknown, less 3 when conditions apply (membership, coupon, quantity limits). |
70 or more is Exceptional value, 50 to 69 a Good deal, 30 to 49 Modest savings. Below 30, discontinued products and prices that aren't below the reference are Not recommended. Commission plays no part: the scoring code doesn't read whether a link earns us anything (policy 2026-11-v2; the code is src/assets/js/lib/deals.js).
Links. RouterHaus has no approved affiliate programs at the moment, so retailer links are plain links and earn us nothing. If that changes, affiliate links will be labeled on each deal and will never change a score or the order. How we make money.
